Entering a New World: Leaving Hawai’i

Hawai’i vs. The Mainland ~ A comparison of the Hawaiian Islands to the east coast of the U.S. mainland

Admitting Denial

Facing the new world of the Internet. world of theĀ InternetVery weird, very new. Never thought it’d happen to me. It’s inevitable, right? This blog was created for a class assignment but I guess I am actually quite pleased we were assigned it. I don’t believe that I would have created a blog so soon without being assigned it. I did voluntarily sign up for online journalism, right? What did I think was going to happen in the class? I guess I didn’t know and that may be half the reason why I signed up. The other half being that I am entering a very new but very real world of technology in a few months and I think I need to prepare myself as best I can. I have been avoiding the Internet and online journalism for too long.

Blogging would have eventually happened for me though. The introduction of the Internet into the media world made blogging almost a necessity, at least knowing the ins and outs of this interactive world.

Blogging can be dangerous and just adds to the level of harm media can have on an individual. I’ve always had a somewhat closed-mind about blogging. I have not had a desire to start one nor did I have any respect for them. There have been times when I felt passionately enough about an issue and a blog would have helped me vent the strong emotion. But I also figured writing in a notebook was just the same.

But all in all this will be a positive experience for me; even if that means I positively know that this is not for me. At least I’ll know.

Good luck and happy living
